Empowered for Life, Term 1

Course 1: Bible Study on Joshua (with Pastor Ian Foley & Freedy Prajitna)

As a church, we are embarking on 8 sermon series on the book of Joshua. We are believing in God that He will raise a generation of strong and courageous people to worship Him (Joshua 1:9). In this bible study, we want to explore key themes “Courage”, “Evil and Suffering” and “Spiritual Battles”. In the first session, we are going to cover an overview of the book of Joshua; understanding key themes, literary features and theological significance. In the second session, we are going to explore the violence presented in the book of Joshua, and how we can relate to present sufferings we see in the world. Lastly, in the third session, we will examine the strategies of battles recorded and how they impact the spiritual and physical worlds.

Session 1: Be Strong and Courageous

Session 2: Evil and Suffering

Session 3: Spiritual and Physical Battles

Course 2: Christian Living - Money, Power & Sex by Pastor Matthew Wong

God did not create money, power and sex simply to be temptations. He had good purposes in mind. When money, power and sex are used according to God’s will, they are pathways to God-exalting joy. This EFL class will explore the potentials and blessings of money, power and sex as God intended; as well as pitfalls and dangers that need to be defeated.

All of creation was meant to declare the beauty and worth of God (Psalm 19:1). We become most satisfied when God takes the centre place in our minds, our hearts, our thoughts and our emotions. When this happens, money, power and sex will fall into the right place and their true beauty.
